Augusta’s Catholic Social Services Thrift Store Announces Grand Opening of New Store Location
Augusta’s Catholic Social Services Thrift Store is excited to announce the grand opening of their new store at 3229 Wrightsboro Road. Doors will open to the public on July 6, 2020.
Previously home to a golf equipment store and Munford Hardware, Jerry and Sharon Baine spearheaded the acquisition, renovation, and build-out of the new Thrift Store location.
“Our new store, which has been renovated to fit our exact needs, will enable us to provide an unparalleled shopping and donating experience to our valued clientele,” says Philomena Mooney, Thrift Store Manager. “This new, centralized location will allow us to provide an even stronger foundation of support to those in need throughout the community.”
Catholic Social Services Thrift Store started more than thirty years ago as a monthly yard sale of clothing and houseware donations and quickly grew into one of Augusta’s most frequented thrift stores. After twenty years at their Broad Street location, the Thrift Store will now occupy more than 17,000 square feet at the corner of North Leg Road and Wrightsboro Road — less than a mile east of the Augusta Mall.
The Thrift Store offers a wide array of household goods, furniture, books, toys, jewelry, and clothing. Conveniently located with access from both North Leg and Wrightsboro Roads, the new store also offers easy drive-up access for donations and ample, well-lit parking for customers. Being along Augusta Transit’s Pink Line is an added benefit. Store hours will also be extended, giving customers the ability to shop Monday - Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm.
Shoppers get the added benefit of knowing that the proceeds from their purchases are used to support Catholic Social Services, a Diocese of Savannah-sponsored ministry that provides assistance to families and individuals in need throughout the CSRA.
“The local community’s support of the Thrift Store has made it possible for Catholic Social Services to provide assistance to families and individuals in the Augusta area when they need it most,” says Sr. Janet Roddy, Executive Director of Catholic Social Services. “We are so grateful for the community’s continued support and look forward to serving them at our new Thrift Store location for years to come.”
Catholic Social Services Thrift Store accepts donations of gently-used clothing, household goods, and furniture. Donors can receive a tax-deductible receipt for their donations. The Thrift Store operates primarily thanks to volunteers and welcomes those interested in giving their time. However, they will be hiring several part-time positions for the new location.
